NaNoManGo
Last month was NaNoManGo, NaNoWriMo but for comics.
Except this year's WriMo didn't happen. A lot of stuff went down with the organization and it led to a nuking of the site. But ManGo has always been removed from that. ManGo is a decentralized splinter group with no funding behind it. There are no leaders. No sponsors. No mess.
I'm sure the WriMo scandals were leading ManGo's decline. And the closure tanked this year's participation. But ManGo had always been helpful for comics creators. So why should the stigma of WriMo keep anyone from meeting their goals?
This year I decided I was making Friction a reality. I had reference for all of the main cast in the first 8 chapters. Nothing was stopping me.
And I'm pleased to say we crushed the challenge. All while balancing our full-time jobs and hosting a Thanksgiving dinner.
This tells me a few things. First, that the comic is happening. That this isn't some manic impulse. That we can and will power through this. And second, that the hardest part of all of this will be setting up the site.
You can sneak an peak at our progress HERE.
If you prefer, you can read chapter 1 on site. I was using it to set up Rarebit. Just know that chapter 2 won't be added to the site until everything is colored and lined.
I'm at a point where I'm coming to terms that this will be a massive headache to code.
